Yielding and profitability of hard wheat (Triticum durum Desf.) cultivation

The results achieved from many years in strict field experiments are presented in the paper. Grain yield of compared species was evaluated after harvest and relations between yields and prices were calculated. Yielding level of durum wheat in comparison to common wheat ranged from 57.3 to 86.1 percent in particular years. The most favourable proportion of durum to common wheat yields was recorded in the years with the highest rainfall deficiency. Significantly higher protein content in durum as compared to common wheat grains was found as well
