The study was conducted in four-field rotation: potato -spring wheat - peas - winter wheat in 1999-02. Three tillage systems: plough-simplified, and ploughless - and two mineral fertilization levels: medium-high (average of 127 kg NPK/ha) on annual basis - and increased by 50 percent). Energy-efficiency indicators were found to depend more on the species rather than on level of tillage simplification or fertilization level. Under direct drilling the yields of spring and winter wheat and those of peas were significantly lower than in the conventional and simplified tillage treatments. The production of cereals and peas showed the best performance in terms of energy efficiency
