The effect of tillage methods of sugar beet and organic fertilization on selected physical properties of soil

A field experiment was carried out as split-plot method in 2002-04. The main plot factor was organic fertilization. Varying autumn-spring tillage and organic fertilization were used as the subplot factor. Soil moisture, bulk density and porosity were determined with the use of cylinders having 100 cubic cm in 6 replications during emergence and harvest time of sugarbeet. Soil compaction was determined with the use of soil penetrometer. Fertilization of sugarbeet with catch crop growing after ploughed straw significantly with only catch crop. During harvest time of sugarbeet the highest soil compaction was on the plots under conservation tillage and the lowest under traditional tillage with manure of 10 t/ha
