Effect of some agrotechnical factors on yielding of corn salad harvested in autumn season and after overwintering

In experiment conducted in 1999-2002 the effect of seed sowing date (15.07, 1.08, 15.08) term of harvest (autumn and spring) and type of cover (nonwoven polypropylene or perforated foil) on yield, content of dry matter, vitamin C, sugars, phosphorus, potassium, magnesium and calcium in Corn salad Nordhollandse was tested. In autumn season the highest marketable yield was obtained from the earliest sowing (15.07) but there plants were completely destroyed by the winter frosts. In the early spring season the best yielding appeared to be plants sown on 15.08 especially from perforated foil cover. Plants form later sowing contained higher amounts of dry matter, vitamin C, reduced and total sugars similar level of P, Mg and Ca and lower content of K in comparison to early sowing. Plants harvested in early spring contained more dry matter, vitamin C, sugars as well as Ca while less K and Mg in the leaves if compared to there harvested in the autumn
