The effect of kind of covers (perforated foil, agrotextile) and date of removal cover (2 and 3 weeks after plants emergence) on the ascorbic acid content in tubers of early cultivars (Aksamitka, Cykada) was investigated. Potatoes were harvested 60 and 75 days after planting. The forcing of plant vegetation by covering resulted in a slight increase in the ascorbic acid content in tubers, in comparison with the cultivation without the plants covering. The kind of covers and the length period of plants covering had no significant effect on this component content in potato tubers. The tubers of Cykada cultivar contained more ascorbic acid than Aksamitka one. The higher temperature in the vegetation period of potato increased the ascorbic acid content in the tubers
