The response of naked oats to nitrogen rates (0, 30, 60, 80, 120 kg N/ha) and sowing rates (400, 600, 700 seeds per square m) was investigated in field experiment in 1998-2000. The grain yield, yield structure, protein content and protein yield were determined. Increasing nitrogen rates (up to 120 kg N/ha) caused the increase of grain yield, protein content and protein yield of naked oats. Examined sowing rates (400-700 seeds per square m) did not affect grain yield and protein content. Variability of the grain yield in dependence on the nitrogen rates was related to differentiation in number of panicles per area unit and number of panicles per area unit and number of grain in panicle, since the weight of 1000 grain did not vary significantly
