In the agro-ecological conditions of East Serbia, production of green and dry matter and hay quality of four cultivars of alfalfa was investigated. During the second and third years of utilization of cultivars (NS Novosadjanka H-11, NS-Slavija, Zajecarska-83 and Europe) and cuts, too, were showed significant effect on green matter yield, dry matter yield and yield of crude protein. Also, differences between cultivars on leaves ratio (from NS-Slavija 56.84% to 52.83% Europe) and content of crude protein (from NS-Slavija 200.1 gkg SM to 189.6 g/kg SM Europe) were significant. There are no significant differences between cultivars for content of crude fibre, crude fat and ash. Also, variability for content of phosphorus, potassium and calcium between cultivars were very small, too. Effect of cuts on leaves ratio was significant (from 39.92% at the first to 61.28% at the fourth cut), but for other following traits differences between cuts were not significant.
