[Fine-fleece sheep breeding in Middle Siberia and methods of its improvement]

The modern status of fine-fleece sheep breeding in Mid Siberia is given; the results of investigations on productivity qualities and biological peculiarities of sheep of different constitution types, belong to different lines of Krasnoyarsk fine-fleece breed are presented, the ways of its effective use in increasing of productive potential are outlined. The ways and methods of breed improving under pure breeding are given, the importance of strain rearing and interstrain mating, the efficiency of pure-strain activities under rearing by lines are stated. The investigation results of using of Australian merino sheep for productivity increase and improvement of Krasnoyarsk breed wool quality by means of lead-in crossing are presented. The matters of increase of polycarpic effect and producing the type with lower rate wool thinness are considered. The efficiency of two-way and triple commercial crossings is shown, the best combination variants not only by productivity parameters but also by dam prolificacy and lam survival rate are stated. The scientific basis and practical recommendations on rearing of the young animals under pasture and stable keeping technologies are given.
