There is given a pharmacological and toxicological evaluation of an anthelminthic paste Alezan for parascaridoses, strongylatosis and anoplocephalatoses of broodmares and year-old foals on farms in the Central, Central-Chernozem and South areas RF. The invasion intensity of the experimental horses at the beginning of the study was: stongylides – 44-1320 eggs in 1 g of feces, Anoplocephala – 22-110 and Parascaris – 44-1100. Alezan was administered perorally by means of single-use syringes at the therapeutic dose of 10 mg/kg, and to estimate its safety – thrice-increased dosage – 30 mg/kg. The efficacy of alezan was estimated at days 1, 5 and 10 by the results of fecal coprolarvoscopy, biochemical parameters of blood and urine. The anthelminthic paste gave negative influence on physiological values of horses neither at the dose of 10 mg/kg, nor at the dose of 30 mg/kg, and its anthelminthic effect for animal cestodoses and nematodoses was 100% maintaining this level within 8 months. It is concluded that the combined preparation alezan based on invermectin and praziquantel is effective for cestodoses and nematodoses in horses and is recommended to be included into the associated systems to protect horses from these helminthoses. The preparation relates to 3 hazard class, has weakly pronounced cumulation and has no topically irritating and skin resorption effect.
