Dynamics of basic wood increment in pine and spruce forests after integrated care of forest (cleanings + application of nitrogen fertilizer). The research was done for 30 years at experimental stations established in mean-aged pine and spruce forest crops in the territory of the state experimental forestry Siversky les in the Leningrad Region. In pine and spruce forests throughout the observation period the basic wood increment in the variant of integrated care was 1.5-2 times higher than in the control and in the variant of cleanings. The integrated care of forest weakens the intensity of interspecies relations within a forest crop promoting increasing diameter wood increment. The maximum of increasing the wood diameter increment falls with regard to the tree sizes at year 3-5 after integrated care. The trees of small sizes have a delayed response to care compared to large trees. After a repeated procedure of integrated care the dynamic of the increment as described is repeated but delayed 1-3 years. The application of fertilized increases the number of positively responded trees. In the first vegetation season these trees are by 10-20% more than in no fertilizer variant.
