[Conductometric and potentiometric determination of milk acidity]

For milk acidity determination standard barium-hydroxide solution in methanol is better titration reagent than NaOH and KOH water solutions due to easier noticing carbonate presence which can diturb potentiometric determinaion of milk acidity. Addition nonaqueous solvents (metanol, ethanol) in water solutions increase potential jump at the end point of potentiometric titration. Differences between potential jump in water solutions and in nonaqueous solutions are as great as-the titrated solutions is more diluted. For milk acidity determination conductometric titrations in nonaqueous solutions are more suitable than potentiometric titrations because it can accommodate sharper end point.
