Economical return of river port and grain storage construction

The river transport is a cheapest mean of transport, especially of large quantities of material in bulk. The main goal of this study was to analyse economic effecs of investments in river ports and silos for grain on the river Tisza (Serbia). The economic input parameters in the evaluation of potential investments were based on existing ports at the river Danube. The instalment of concrete and steel silos, warehouses and the port loading and unloading equipment for grain material was simulated in this study. The total income of investments was achieved on the basis of cereal storage, quantitative and qualitative receipt, storing, delivery and loading into vessels. The economic indicators point out that project profitability will be achieved in the 6th year after the investment was made, that the net present value is about 2.8 million Euros, and that the internal rate of rentability is approximately 17%. All the stated justifies the investment.
