A multilocation experiment was conducted for three seasons (2000/01, 2001/02 and 2002/03) to study the stability of 16 upland cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L.) genotypes grown in six environments at Shambat, Rahad and Gezira Research farms. The stability analysis was carried out for 12 characters. Genotype - environment (GE) interaction was significat for number of bolls/m2, seed index, lint index, seedcotton, lint yield, ginning out-turn and fibre attachment force. Linear and non¬linear components of GE interaction were significant for seedcotton, lint yield and lint index, whereas only linear component was signifcant for number of bolls/m2, seed index, ginning out-turn and fibre attachment force. Line 28, Line 54, Line 56 and Line 27 were identified as the stable genotypes and having high performance potential
