Assessment of causes of degradation of the vegetation cover in the White Nile State (Elgetaina Area)

This study is designed to investigate the woody vegetation of Rashad district, which located in Eastern Nuba Mountains - Southern Kordofan State. It has been focused on the taxonomical characteristics of woody plants of the study area which were collected , classified and identified. The study incorporates general survey of the climate, geology and soils. The study area has been divided into 7 vegetational communities according to dominant plant species and their habitats. These are compared with the earlier vegetational studies. The present taxonomic study covers 102 species, 70 genera, 3 families and 24 orders. Attentiion has been given to update the botanical names of the woody plants which have been studied. The study also included the important uses of those plants, their habitat and distribution. Suggestions of further studies were recommended
