Polish agricultural extension service in the process of rural development

The paper presents the role of agricultural extension service in the process of agriculture and rural areas development in Poland after the EU accession. It includes major changes in transition of Polish extension services, strengths and weaknesses of the state-owned and farmers-owned agricultural extension systems, changes in the rural communities, new challenges for advisors, and current priority tasks for the Polish extension service. The paper gives several conclusions, one of which is directed towards the support by the state agricultural policy.
