The intake of selected antioxidants (BHA, BHT and gallates) was calculated in the average diet of Slovak consumers and in the recommended diet of adults and of three children categories based on 2-weeks model menus. The estimated exposures were compared to the ADI values. The dietary doses of BHT (butylated hydroxytoluene) and gallates are relatively low. A highest exposure was estimated from BHA (butylated hydroxyanisole), which exceeds 50 % ADI at the children population. These results are probably overestimated since only the legislation maximum limits were taken into account in the calculations. It will be necessary to determine actual BHA levels in individual foodstuffs contributing to the intake.
