Although much experience has been gained in the control of environmental risk/safety issues concerning the first-generation of GMOs, new environmental safety questions will arise as the volume and types of genetically products on the global market increase. This is true especially in the case genetically modified food and/or feed. Therefore in countries like Slovakia is intensively going on the building of the control capacities oriented on safe use of genetic technologies and genetically modified organisms.
