This paper analyses the height movements dynamics of Norway spruce and Silver fir in the lower tree layer of a selection forest (compartment 149, forest management unit Mníšek nad Hnilcom). The statistical significant influence of factors of trees's variety (Norway spruce, Silver fir) and a diameter classes on 10 years height increments of trees in the lower tree layer was confirmed in this paper. The 10 years height increments of Silver fir are higher by 10-20% than the 10 years height growth increments of Norway spruce. The significant differences of height growth increment between Norway spruce and Silver fir in the same diameter classes were shown in the diameter classes 4 and 5 cm. The differences in the 10 years height growth increments between both in the lowest diameter classes (from 1 to 3 cm) are small and statistical insignificant.
