Maepunluang royal project operations as adoption by clients in Chaing Mai and Chiang Rai provinces, Thailand

Purpose of the research, which covered 4 villages of Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai Provinces under the Men Pun Luang Royal Project, was to investigate (1) personal background of the hill-tribesmen (2) adoptions of both the village committee and the clients, towards the objectives and the implementation of the project: and (3) adoptions of the hill - tribe village committee and the clients on compatibility between the objectives and the implementation of the project. With the use of the questionnaire, the data were collected through interviewing 177 persons. The study showed the following results: 1. The clients differed in personal background. The average age was 39 years. The average number of family member was 6, with 3 people engaged in agriculture in each family. 2. The clients differed in social and economic background. The average agricultural land was 6 rai per family. The average income was 32,362 baths per family and the average expense was 6,280 bath per family. The average net per family was 26,066 bath. These vegetables were grown alternately throughout the year. The average vegetables-growing area was 1 rai family and the products were sold directly to the Royal Projects, Temperate climate fruit grown ware peach, pear, oriental persimmon, apricot, and plum. Small animals raised were poultry and swine. The average number of small was 6 per family. With respect to social background, the majority of the informants were members of the Farmer group and communicated with off - village people i.e. they contacted government offices and traded with people in town. 3. Adoptions of the village committee and the farmers towards the objectives of the Royal Project. It was found that the informants had a good level of adoptions towards the 7 statements concerning the implementation of the project. Commonality in adoption between the two groups of informants was also found to exist. 4. The informants had a good level of adoption. They Agreed on the benefits of the implementation methods of Mae Pun Luang Royal Project. In addition, commonality in adoptions of both groups of informants was found to exist.
