Survey and evaluation of natural enemies of important weeds in the central region of Thailand

Survey of weeds in central region of Thailand was conducted during May 2001 to April 2002. We found important weeds in 15 families 16 species and natural enemies of weeds in 17 families 43 species. In beginning, the biological studies of natural enemies were carried out on four species: Agallia quadrinotata (Homoptera: Delphacidae), Acraea violae (Lepidoptera: Acraeidae) Appias libythae (Lepidoptera: Pieridae) and Hypolixus truncatulus (Coleoptera: Curculionidae). Population density of netural enemies was monitored in 3 Order 6 species. The results revealed that the highest population density of unidentified lygaeid (Hemiptera: Lygaeidae), A. violae, unidentified pyralid (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae), Spodoptera pectinicornis (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae), H. truncatulus (Coleoptera: Cuculionidae) and Bagous sp. nr. Nodieri (Coleoptera: Curculionidae) are in June, August, February, July, July, and March, respectively.
