A COMPARATIVE STUDY OF THE NEW RULES FOR DETERMINATION OF THE CRUDE PROTEIN TO THE ACTUAL NEEDS OF THE LACTATING SHEEP OF THE BULGARIAN DAIRY SYNTHETIC POPULATION
2009
Mikhajlova, M., Agricultural Institute, Stara Zagora (Bulgaria)
Five experiments were carried out with the aim to compare the new standards for the amount of crude protein corresponding to the actual needs of lactating sheep of the Bulgarian Dairy Synthetic Population. It was obtained that the new standards for crude protein in the dairy sheep ration proposed by Todorov and Dardzhonov - 1995 are relatively accurate and there may be benefit from their exceeding. Ensuring an excess of protein above the norms is acceptable only when very cheap protein sources are used. The exceeding of the BPT as a result of excess of protein led to its poor utilization and to excretion of more urea from the body to the milk.
