In Belarus there are no nematicides allowing effective control of potato stem nematode. Crop rotation and an elimination of diseased tubers considerably reduce losses from a stem nematode, however do not give an opportunity to reduce its harmfilness to minimum. The basic way of control against stem nematode is cultivation of resistant or weakly affected varieties which breeding is interfaced to a number of additional difficulties connected with accumulation of invasion material and creation of an artificial invasion conditions. With the purpose of reproduction and accumulation of invasion D. destructor there were studied nutritious substrata of various species of the fungi, being by a forage reserve for a nematode in soil. Ways of an estimation are developed and the estimation of a breeding material of potato on the basis of susceptibility to stem nematode is lead. The initial material for breeding of varieties, resistant to D. destructor is revealed
