[Evaluation and creation of the initial material for the selection of portion pumpkin (Cucurbita pepo L., Cucurbita maxima D.)]

Results of creation of short creeping stem and bunch-forming forms of the portion table pumpkin of two types (thick-rinded (Cucurbita pepo L.) and large-fruited (Cucurbita maxima D.)) with the high biochemical indices of pulp quality in the conditions of the Republic of Belarus were presented. In course of the realized investigation there were revealed the following genetically valuable samples: by yielding capacity indices – Cheyenne Bush, Martin F1, Golden Nuget; by layering capacity – Nice a fruit round, Round luchia; by quality of pulp – Kroshka, Arina, Ulybka (for the large-fruited pumpkin variety) and Golden Nugget and Small Sugar (for the thick-rinded variety). The highest indices of dry matter content were shown by Kroshka and Ulybka (for large-fruited pumpkin) and by Ebony, Golden Nugget, Sweet Dumpling, Tale queen or des Moines (for the thick-rinded variety). The highest content of sugar, ascorbic acid, and carotene was stated in Kroshka, Ulybka, Small sugar or Pie, Small sugar and Golden hubbard samples. All studied samples had high fruit quality indices
