Yields of fodder beet roots in organic farming

Three-year experiments were carried out to evaluate the yields and root weights of six fodder beet varieties (Lenka, Hako, Jamon, Monro, Starmon and Kostelecka Barres in 2005 and 2006, Lenka, Hako, Jamon, Monro, Starmon and Bucansky Zluty Valec in 2007) and one sugar beet variety (Merak) grown organically. The yields were significantly influenced by the variety and year. The variety Hako produced the highest yields in 2005 and 2006, whereas in 2007 it was the variety Bucansky Zluty Valec. All the varieties tested were suitable for organic farming.
