The present paper deals with the study of phonological behaviour in selected clones of P. ciliate x P. maxumowiczii hybrid grown in the nursery of Dr. Y.S. Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry. On the basis of similarity of the phenophases various clones were pooled into different groups representing identical phonological behaviour, the different vegetative phenophases studied in the experiment were bud swelling, bud break, leaf initiation, leaf emergence, complete leaf stage , yellowing of leaf and leaf fall. The average no. of phynological active growth days was around 6 months i.e. the average period between complete leaf stage to the start of yellowing of leaf stage and the phonologically inactive growth period was around 3 months i.e. the average period between complete leaf shedding to the initiation of bud break stage.
