Tan spot caused by fungus Pyrenophora tritici-repentis is a prevalent disease of wheat in different regions of the world because suitable humidity conditions for crop production can cause higher amount of this disease. Tan spot affects most species of cereals and by it or with other foliar diseases, can cause serious problems. Tan spot can shriveled the grains in severe cases, thus can decrease yield and seed weight of affected crops significantly. Forutan et al. (1996) were reported the disease for the first time from Mazandaran province. Authors observed wide distribution of the disease in wheat fields of Golestan province in 2005. This booklet is written to make researchers, extension sgents and students familiar to this disease and its control methods.
