Assessment of the efficiency of Tracer and Runner, two new insecticides on grape moth, Lobesia botrana (Denis & Schiffermuller) (Lepidoptera: Tortricidae)

Lobesia botrana is one of the most important pests of grape in Iran and some other countries of the world. Routinely different kinds of insecticides are used against this pest, resulting possibly in appearing resistance of this insect to the insecticides. This is the main reason we are trying to introduce the new insescticides to be tested against this pest. To acheive this goal the insecticides have been tested and compared with control in four replications using the RBD.In present research, methoxyfenozide and spinosad (two new insecticides) were tested to control grape moth in two years, including the treatments: methoxyfenozide (240 SC), spinosad (240 SC), thiodicarb (80 DF) and check with 450, 250, 580 ppm doses and water respectively in four replicates.To compare the treatments , we are based on the percentage of efficiency of insecticides and percentage of damages as a whole. The results obtained indicated that, during the first year there has been a significant difference between the damage percentage and the efficacy of different insecticides at 1% and 5% respectively on the third generation. During the second year as regards the percentage of damage there has been significant diference in the second and third generations. But in the third generation there has not been any difference as regards the efficiency of chemical treatments. On the average, the insecticides methoxyfenozide, spinosad and thiodicarb have been effective as high as 63.4, 61.2 and 64.2 percent respectively. In other words, we can conclude that they are satisfactorily effective against grape moth.
