It has been gradually cleared that vegetable processing and exporting companies in China are reorganizing their production bases and transforming production areas into mini-farming system due to residual pesticide problems. The Qingdao region of Shandong province is the central part of China. From 2000, we have paid attention on two vegetable processing companies which have different procurement systems from each other. One, Wanfu Shipin, a town owned company procures vegetables through village committee. Few companies take such systems, and they make contribution to rural agricultural development through vegetable promotion inhered in company activity as a town owned company. Thus it is a case worthy of notice. Nevertheless, after residual pesticides problem, companies are establishing direct manage farms. Based on the field survey in 2006, this paper clarifies the transformation of the procurement system of vegetable processing companies in chronological order and explains the present condition of the former organizing village committee type producing area and the management of the new establishing direct manages farms.
