This paper investigates the socio-economic conditions on which the number of family members having breakfast together depends. Significant relationships could be detected by an Ordered Probit Regression. It is based on German time use data. It turns out that the number of family members having breakfast together is higher on Saturdays and Sundays than on working days. It is the higher, the younger the children in the household and the fewer the restrictions that come along with working life for their parents. It is the lower, the higher the working force participation of the adults. Impacts on the discussion about the reform of the German educational system are discussed.
