The article includes the research about development of home economic education in Latvia in comparison with Europe. The article investigates the opinion of the leading home economics specialists and looks at International federation of home economics tasks and general directions as well as the perspectives of Latvia development in the connection with the current in the home economic education. The problem: Home economics in historical development has changed in defining the aims and the tasks, as well as in the content of subject. The nowadays home economics according to the aims and tasks of elementary education must give students the understanding on the condition of people's life environment safety and life quality as well as the possibility to improve them. Acquiring knowledge and skills are directed towards the understanding of occurring process at home and the welfare development of their members. Nevertheless many themes included in the content of subject and demands for developing them do not give notion how to provide the life quality of person. The goal of the article is to activate the quality of life in the acquisition of the content of the house economics at primary school. The formulated goals and tasks of International Home economics federation points out at it and documents worked out about perspectives of Latvia development as well as the suggestions from leading home economics specialists, where life quality is marked out as the priority of people's life.
