[Influence of mineral nutrition and soil moisture on the relationship between the size of wheat kernels and the content of basic amino acids in their storage proteins]
2007
Babitsky, A. | Toma, Z.
Dye binding capacity (DBC) method has been used to demonstrate the considerable interdependence between the content of basic amino acids in wheat proteins (spring Triticum durum), kernel size and plant growing conditions in steppe zone. The experimental design consisted of 13 variants of mineral nutrition under three levels of soil moisture. To increase precision, the design was randomized. From our study it follows that there is a positive relationship between the content of basic amino acids and the level of soil moisture, which is more manifested in middle-sized kernels. These data indicate that soil water deficit was responsible for the lower content of basic amino acids in wheat protein.
