Bioconversion of vegetable substrates by Pleurotus ostreatus (Jacq.: Fr) Kumm
2005
Stepanov, V. | Rudic, V.
Amino acid composition and nutritive value of three strains of Pleurotus ostreatus, grown under submerged conditions on different vegetable substrates (sunflower hull, corn flour, soybean flour), has been studied. The content of essential amino acids in P. ostreatus mycelium was compared with the FAO reference protein. The presented results demonstrate possibilities of obtaining proteic biomass with high nutritive value and fodder for agricultural animals, rich in nitrogen and particularly in essential and immunoactive amino acids. The ability of P. ostreatus to decompose lignocellulose and to enrich sunflower hull with fungal protein leads to the increase of its fodder value and can be used as a means for producing fodder proteins.
