The developed Tiger Grass Flower Pollen Remover is a machine made and enhances the production of soft broom or walis tambo. This gadget is basically made out of local materials available in the market. The tiger grass flower pollen remover was subjected to several tests to determine its functionality and efficiency, as well as its acceptability to end users. The machine is gender-friendly. It can be manually operated or motor-driven. The machine can be assembled and disassembled easily to allow mobility from one workplace to another. It can also be used as a rice thresher by simply detaching the tiger grass flower pollen roller and replace it with rice thresher roller, thus rice stalks can be threshed out. As a rice thresher, when manually operated by 2 persons, the machine can yield at least 10 cavans in an hour; when applied with a motor, the machine can yield 15-18 cavans in an hour of operation. When manually operated, the machine can yield 100 tiger grass stalks in 5-6 minutes without any broken stalks, 100 tiger grass stalks in 3 minutes or less with an average of at least 3 broken stalks when motorized. The conventional process in the production of soft broom is usually done by shaking and brushing. The machine is also undergoing patent pending at Intellectual Property Office with application number 1-2004-000430.
