This thesis should establish, in controlled conditions, but also focusing on elimination of all factors of the environment which would affect subjectivity of the results, whether there are differences in the quality and quantity of meat and milk of transgenic rabbits and standard genotype control group. Line of New Zealand White transgenic rabbits containing a whey acidic protein-human factor VIII (WAP-hFVIII) transgene integrated into their genome was used in this research. The research showed that females produced recombined hFVIII in the mammary gland and the differences in the amount of secreted milk were statistically significant. The level of the protein production in milk did not manifest significant difference, whereas the production of the milk fat was considerably higher and of lactosis lower in transgenic species. The number of somatic cells in the milk of transgenic rabbits showed significantly higher value. The research of the ultrastructure of the mammary gland showed considerably greater number of mitichondria and smaller number of vacuoles in the tissue of transgenic females. There were no functional disorders in the mammary gland. No significant differences were found in the meat quantity between transgenic species and the control group. However, there was considerable difference in the weight of some body parts of rabbits, namely in their head and body weight and ratio between distal parts of the body. The protein content in the meat of non-transgenic species was significantly higher, whereas the fat and energy content was lower in relation to transgenic species.
