The objective of this study was to examine the effects of grafting on the yield performance, yield components and quality of tomato. The study included the following variants: control - the hybrid Jeremy, with indeterminate stem growth (non-grafted variant; the same hybrid was used for production of scions for tests of other rootstocks); rootstocks - Lycopersicum esculentum ssp. subspontaneum var. cerasiformae - cherry tomato; Lycopersicum esculentum ssp. subspontaneum var. pruniformae - plum tomato; Lycopersicum esculentum ssp. subspontaneum var. pyriformae - pear tomato; Vigomax, Beaufort, Maxifort, Madona. Based on the three-year study of the effect of grafting on the yield and quality of tomatoes grown under shelter, following conclusions were drawn: Tomato transplants were positively affected by grafting. The Maxifort rootstock provided largest values of the total number of fruits, average number of fruits per plant, average fruit weight and total fruit weight. The pH value did not differ among the variants, however, the maximum value was registered in the control variant. The highest content of total sugars in the fruit was found in the variant with the Maxifort rootstock. Maximum contents of organic acids, vitamic C and lycopin were found in the variant with the eggplant cultivar Madona used as the rootstock.
