In this study were examined combining abilities of eight inbred lines, with different type of resistance to rhizomania, for root yield, sugar content, dry matter content, crown weight, root diameter and root length. Inbred lines were developed from two monogerm isogenic populations of narrow genetic base of sugar beet with different types of resistance to rhizomania (Holly type and WB42). Testers did not posses resistance to rhizomania. Line x tester analysis was used to investigate general (GCA) and specific combining abilities (SCA) of parents, gene effect for quantitative traits and proportional contribution of lines, testers and their interactions to total variability. It was found that dominant genetic variance was significant for inheritance of root yield, which points to possibility of heterosis for this trait. Dominant genetic variance was significant for inheritance of sugar content. Bigger importance of dominant genetic variance is the result of crossing lines which posses resistance to rhizomania with lines susceptible to rhizomania, so in the F1 generation expressed domination of resistance to rhizomania and sugar content was on the level of better parent.
