The whole maize plant, maize ear and lucerne were ensiled with and without addition of the CenSiltm inoculant. The experiment was two factorial with three replications per each treatment. Inoculation of the whole maize plant, maize ear and lucerne decreased pH values and intensified the whole fermentation, with relative dominance of lactic acid in the total acid contents in silages of the whole maize plant and lucerne. All inoculated silages had lower degree of protein degradation which was confirmed by lower ammonia nitrogen content. Silages of the whole maize plant and maize ear were the first quality according to Flieg, DLG and Zelter methods, regardless of the use of inoculant. The lucerne silage was improved with the use of inoculants from the 3rd and 2nd quality class according to Flieg evaluation system.
