The degree of manifestation of arterial hypertension (AH) in the last 2 months of pregnancy in high productive cows accompanied with proteinuria and edemas was studied. Of 283 studied cows 49.4% of cows and 43.8% of heifers had AH. Systolic blood pressure was 127.8-136.2 mm hg, diastolic pressure – 88.2-101.6; pulse pressure – 41.7-51.5, mean arterial pressure – 98-101.8 and mean dynamic pressure – 42.6-45.4 mm hg with increased heart rhythm by 8.2-18.3% and respiratory movements by 22-31%. In 83.3-100% cases in cows and heifers there were observed edemas of ventral abdominal wall and extremities, in 26.8-50% - dewlap, mammary gland and genitals. An express test of urine for AH has shown that pH=7.0 was recorded in 14.2%, 8.0 – in 42.8-66.7% and 9.0 – in 57.2% of animals with protein content 0.3 g/l – in 16.7-42.8%, 1.0 g/l – in 28.6-66.6% and 5.0 g/l –in 14.4-28.6% and ketone bodies in 42.7-57.1%. An estimation of hormonal status under AH an increase in progesterone by 9.6-29%, cortisol 19.9-9.4% and thyroxin – by 44.1% and triiodothyronine – by 11.9%, a decrease of extradiol 17 beta were observed. As was found, AH led to 20% of cases of retention of afterbirth and 36.7-93.3% of postnatal diseases. The incidence of GIT diseases in calves born from AH cows and their survivability were 52 and 96%, respectively. It is concluded that gestosis of pregnant cows should be considered as an adaptation disease accompanied with functional disorders cardiovascular, pulmonary, urinary and fetoplacental systems and being one of the causes of natal and postnatal complications in cows and low vitality of the offspring
