The effect of additive ACIDAD (AC) was recorded on production rabbit farm. AC, which is still in the development phase. It is composed of sweet chestnut wood extract (mostly hydrolysable tannins) and the mixture of organic acids. 806 rabbits (both sexes) of Slovene maternal SIKA line were collectively recorded from weaning (37 days of age) to the end of the fattening period (90 days). Rabbits were allotted to 6 groups: F-1.0/0.2 (the addition of commercial product Farmatan), AC-1.0/0.2, AC-0.7/0.2, AC-0.5/0.2, AC-0.5/0.15 and AC-0.3. Except for the last group, which got the same quantity of the additive during the entire experiment, the quantities of additive were smaller during the fattening period (65-90 d) than during the growing period (37-65 d). Mortality, growth and feed intake were recorded collectively in separate groups. The addition of 0.5 % of AC during the growing period (weaning to 65th d) had favourable effect, as the mortality rate in group AC-0.5/0.2 was the lowest among groups (F-1.0/0.2: 29.8 %, AC-1.0/0.2: 26.9 %, AC-0.7/0.2: 21.2 %, AC-0.5/0.2: 10.6 %, AC-0.5/0.15: 16.7 % in AC-0.3: 16.7 %). Addition of 0.3 % AC in the fattening period was appropriate in such farm conditions, since during this period there was no mortality in the AC-0.3 group. This group had the highest weight gain during the entire experiment (AC-0.3: 29.0 g/day) as well. Weight gain was the lowest in the group AC-0.5/0.2 (24.3 g/day), what can indicate that 0.5 % AC decreased the mortality rate during growth period, but on the other hand, growth was diminished. Feed conversion efficiency was also the best in AC-0.3 group.
