The article analyses the present situation in food consumption. On a detail of world food market documents the growing demand on food, determinants of food unbalance and growing food prices at a view on growing food prices in Slovak Republic. Not least it shows the expected changes in production and price levels of food in Slovakia to 2015. The Article defines the development of human population and the demand at healthy clean food. Outgoing from the food consumption in 1996 to 2006 it develop a consideration when we can predict an achievement of quantitative parameters of food cage from 1990. A special attention is given to the energetic intensity of producing food.
