River and pound sediments are sedimentary products and for sustainable state of river or pound environment must be removed periodically. The use or liquidation of the sediments presents a real problem thanks to their huge mass. The legislative regulation of this problem is not yet available in the Czech Republic and the proposal of the act is processed in the present time. Our team coordinates the project of Ministry of Agriculture of Czech Republic (No. QH 82 083) focused on the sediment application on agricultural soils from the viewpoint on soil contamination by risky elements and persistent organic pollutants predominantly. The results obtained on the base of laboratory, pot and field trials, microbial and eco toxicological tests will be used for the correction of current version of the proposal.
