Based on four-year expeditionary measurements of snow cover water equivalent on elevation profile of Polana mountain massive we produced spatial distribution analysis of water supply in small mountain watershed of Hucava (39.1 square km) using GIS tools, mainly geostatistics (linear regression) and map algebra tools. We measured the highest snow cover water supply on turn of February and March, 2006, represented by 9.65 mil. cubic m of water that presents on average 246 mm of water pillar. Meanwhile, in the same period in 2004 the total water supply was 3.5 mil. cubic m (89 mm of the water pillar) and 3.78 mil. cubic m (96 mm of the water pillar) in 2007 what represents only one third ofvalues trom 2006. Totally lowest values we found out on April 2007, when the total water supply was only 1.06 mil. cubic m (27 mm of the water pillar). Based on acquired data, it is possible to note that the influence of forest on snow supply holding grows after culmination and in beginning of snow cover drowning, when the stand affects as screen and prevents from drown. By this way, there was confirmed the influence of forest on more regular distribution of snow precipitations and on next slow release to ground and underground waters, that has significant influence in view of potential flood formation hazard decreasing.
