Genetic diversity of the ITS2 region of the small freshwater prawn, Macrobrachium lanchesteri, from 9 provinces in 4 regions of Thailand, 10 samples in each province, was estimated by PCR-RFLP technique. Nine haplotypes were obtained by cutting the ITS2 of the samples with 7 restriction enzymes, HhaI, MspI, AluI, TruII, RsaI, HaeIII and TaqI. Then, the genetic variations was analyzed and found that the percentage of variation among groups, among populations within groups and within population were 35.61, 56.71 and 8.22 respectively. The results indicated that population structure of M. lanchesteri in Thailand.
