Selection of HAO5 Yard long bean variety

The Yard long bean variety No.5, which, belong to Yard long bean collections was selected, evaluated during 1998 - 2002 at RIFAV, Trau Quy - Gia Lam - Hanoi. This variety had good vegetative, adaptability to ecological conditions in Northern Vietnam, tolerance to pod bore, and high yield. It also had good quality pod, suitable with Vietnamese market. The HAO5 variety gave yield at 18.5 tons/ha, with pod length more than 50 cm. This variety can be planted from February to August. Spacing: 70 cm x 50 cm fertilizer application per ha: 15 tons organic fertilizer + 100 N + 100 K2O + 80 P2O5.
