Studying influences of Golden Apple Snail (GAS) on ecological environment and measures against them

The Golden Apple Snail (GAS) is an invasive species introduced to our country from 1988 and has been one of rice major pests in Vietnam. The total area sustaining damage to rice by GAS is of more hundred thousand ha yearly, mainly in direct seeded rice. The study focused on assessment of status and emergence trend of GAS, advantage and disadvantage of available measures against them. The most important result is the botanical mulluscicides, named TICTACK 13.2 BR and BOURBO 8.3 BR, found out by Plant Protection Research Institute to control GAS effectively. They have been produced by botanical materials in the country to meet urgent demand of farmers to control this dangerous pest effectively and safely.
