Photovoltaics and Solar Electricity in Agriculture
2008

The sun is our key source of energy. All life on this planet exists thanks to the power of the sun. The sun drives the water cycle. We owe our winds to the sun. Direct sunlight provide us with light and warmth. Solar radiation on our fields enables plant growth, hence the sun feeds us. The power of the sun can be harnessed for direct technical use. Even the formation of petroleum, coal and gas deposits is the indirect result of the deposition of solar energy over millions of years. Our current climate problems are the result of humans using up in just a few years energy resources that it took millions of years to lay down. The consistent use of all renewable energy sources is therefore of key importance.
