Results showed highest per cent dry matter, N, P and K contents in the dung under buried· and compact methods of storage. Minimum nutrients losses occurred when the dung was buried. Addition of phosphates significantly reduced N losses in the dung during storage, single superphosphate being most effective due to its calcium sulphate content which combined with volatilizing ammonia gas to form ammonium sulphate. It is suggested that nomadic dung be left alone and that fresh dung should be collected from stables within 24 h after dropping and composted with superphosphate using the buried method.
