Administration of herbal antimicrobials recovers the endometritis in buffaloes

The efficacy of garlic extract and neem oil in recovery of sixty buffaloes from endometritis was evaluated. The clinical recovery was assessed by negative whiteside test reaction, significant decline in pH and bacterial load in CVM at subsequent estrus. The garlic extract and neem oil each recovered 80% buffaloes from uterine infections and the conception rate were 75 and 67%, respectively. These results indicate that garlic extract and neem oil may be used as an alternative therapy to antibiotics in endometritic cases.
