With of using cross progeny Fsub(2) generation of green-cylindrical fruit type line and white-fusiform fruit type line in balsam pear, we analyzed the segregation pattern of fruit length, fruit diameter, skin color and L-ascorbic acid (AsA) content in balsam pear (Momordica charantia L.). The values of fruit length, fruit diameter and AsA content for Fsub(2) generation were continuously distributed, suggesting that the characters were quantitative inherited traits. The white skin color lines segregated in 1/16 ratio in Fsub(2) generation. This result indicated that skin color of white or green was determined two qualitative genes.
