On November 11, 2009 the implementation actualities of the State Research Program in power engineering were presented at the Latvian Academy of Sciences (LAS). The leaders and executors of all the seven research projects included into the program as well as the representatives from the Supervision Council over the implementation of the Program, the partners of cooperation and the press took part at the discussion presided by Academician Juris Ekmanis, President of the LAS, Director of the Institute of Physical Energetics. In the person of the Cabinet of Ministers, the State sets the priorities of science - and, till the end of this year, those priorities are in force which were set in 2006 power engineering being found among them. Each priority comprises one research program financed from the state budget. General analysis of the situation with the implementation of the Program leads to a conclusion that the state support for investigations in the sphere of power engineering has and will have a future - at least for the next four years (the period 2010-2013) because, as it is evident already at the present time from the analysis of the most urgent processes and negative aspects in national economy widely discussed in all sorts of mass media, the terms industry, "power engineering" is inflected in a great variety of context and referred to in connection with analytical evaluation of the most diverse problems and the dynamics of the spheres of national economy.
